AMN National Gathering – Oct 3rd – Edinburgh
The Anti-Militarist Network is a non-hierarchical, UK-wide network of autonomous campaigns, groups and activists opposed to militarism and the arms industry. It aims to provide support to anti-militarist campaigns and groups, a forum for communication, and an infrastructure for direct action.
The Anti-Militarist Network will be holding a national gathering in Edinburgh on Saturday the 3rd of October. Among other things we will be discussing the resistance to the upcoming NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Edinburgh ( 13-17th November), the decommissioners week in Brighton ( 16-26 October), the newly formed Target Brimar campaign in Manchester (launch demo 17th October) and other anti-militarist campaigns and events across the UK. The AMN gathering is a great opportunity for activists from around the country to network and build a national anti-militarist movement.
The gathering is open to anyone who supports the AMNs aims and principles.
About the Gathering:
Time
The gathering will start at midday and will hopefully finish at 5, although can go on longer if required. Please arrive on time so we don’t have to repeat things already said.
Venue
The venue for the gathering is the Action Room, upstairs in the Forest Cafe, a volunteer run community arts space.
The nearest train station is Edinburgh Waverley, and the nearest coach station is St Andrews Square. If you get lost and are asking for directions ask for Bristo Square or the National Museum, both of which are right next to it. You can also call us for directions on 07551359374.
Accessibility
We are very sorry but the venue is not wheelchair accessible. Finding accessible venues in Edinburgh is notoriously hard. If you have accessibility issues and want to come to the gathering please email and we will try our hardest to find a way around this problem. We’re very sorry about this.
Accommodation
If you are coming from out of town and need accommodation please email us (gathering [at] antimilitaristnetwork.org.uk) or call us (07551359374) and we will be more than happy to put you up. If you have any special requirements then please tell us and we will try and meet your needs.
Food
The Forest Cafe serves excellent vegan food all day. We will have a food break during the gathering. If the food is out of your price range we can recommend places to get cheaper food.
If you have any special dietary requirements, accessibility issues, have anything you want to be discussed or have any questions please feel free to contact us.
Thank you and hopefully see you in Edinburgh!
